This is the story of the Limosa, a bird that looks like a fighter jet in flight and that has broken the record for the longest non-stop journey, with a 13,048-kilometre trip from Alaska to Australia. The flight of Limosa lapponica, or Lesser Blackbird, lasted 239 hours, from 17 to 27 September, and was monitored by a tracking device attached to its body. The bird also broke the record for the longest journey made by an animal without feeding.
