The Cormorant is a fisherman’s bird par excellence.
Its feathers are permeable, so it spends a lot of time drying them at the sun. Its legs, with large membranes, serve to give it a great thrust under water. It flies very well thanks to its broad wings and streamlined shape, but taking off from the water is difficult due to the upright position of its legs and the weight of the water impregnating its feathers. The cormorant can be observed on almost all continents. In Italy there are scattered nests, but always in environments near water, both inland such as lakes and rivers, and on the coast.
